The province of Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam
held it first direct local election a year after the peace agreement
signed between The Free Aceh Movement and The Indonesian Government.
Irwandi Yusuf, a member of Free Aceh Movement or Gerakan
Aceh Merdeka (GAM) decided to run for governor of Aceh.
The candidate who runs independently has no financial support
from any political party for his campaign.
